Hello, PixelHost Community! 👋

Today, we bring you a super useful tutorial for all Minecraft enthusiasts. We know that with each new version, the variety of servers and available versions can be confusing. But don’t worry, we’re here to help you navigate this sea of options! 🌊

(Note: This is not a tutorial on how to change the server version of Minecraft.)

Changing the Version of Minecraft Java Edition

Whether you want to use mods, wait for plugin updates, or simply relive the nostalgia of previous versions, here’s how to do it without getting lost along the way.

Create a New Installation

  1. Open the Minecraft Java Edition launcher 📥.

  2. At the top, go to Installations 🛠️.

  3. Press New Installation ➕.

  4. Select an icon and name for your installation 🖼️.

  5. Open the Version dropdown menu and choose the one you want 📜.

  6. Once configured, press Create 🚀.

That’s it! Now you can see your new installation in the Installations tab. To start playing, just hover over your installation and press Play 🎮.

Managing Installations

Sometimes, you’ll want to edit or manage your installations. Here’s how:

  • Search and Sort 🔍: Use the search bar and sorting options to easily find your installation.

  • Version Filters 📂: Filter by versions to see only the ones you’re interested in.

  • Open Directory 📁: Hover over a version and press Open Directory to access the installation files. Ideal for installing mods.

  • More Options ⚙️: Edit, duplicate, or delete a version as needed.

Common Issue: I can’t find my installation

Solution✔️: Use the search bar or version filters to quickly locate it.

Conclusion

Understanding how to manage and change Minecraft versions is crucial for a smooth gaming experience. Some servers use ViaVersion to allow connections from different versions, but when this isn’t available, it’s essential to match the server version with your device.

Remember to give unique names to your installations for easy differentiation. Plus, you can adjust advanced settings like RAM allocation or resolution! With this knowledge, you’re ready to explore all versions of Minecraft and dive into the action. 🌍⚔️
