When you're playing on a server, you might notice some include elevators, especially in spawn hubs, allowing access to different parts of the structure. For example, a multi-story shop might have elevators for quick access between floors. Whether you're using them for a creative build, a hub, or anything else, the Simple Elevators plugin allows you to create elevators quickly and efficiently on your server. With PixelHost, installing a plugin is super easy, so let's get started!
🛠️ How to Install Simple Elevators
Go to your PixelHost Server Panel and stop the server.
Scroll down to the "JAR File" section and make sure you're running a plugin-compatible version, like Spigot or Paper.
Access "FTP File Access" on the left side and log in.
Locate or create the "plugins" folder and enter it.
Go to the Simple Elevators page on Spigot and click "Download Now."
In the panel, click "Upload" at the top left and then drag the plugin's .jar file into the uploader.
Once it reaches 100%, go back to the main server page and start your server.
🎮 Getting Started
Once in the game, find a place where you want an elevator. To create one, use the command /elevator create [Combination Number] [Distance #] to place an elevator at your feet, with the upper floor at the selected distance.
🔄 Default Combinations
When creating an elevator, you can choose a combination number to change its style. These can be customized, but here are the default ones:
Style 1 - Redstone block at the bottom with a quartz block on top.
Style 2 - Iron block at the bottom with a quartz slab on top.
Style 3 - Blue wool block with a red carpet on top.
Style 4 - Dirt block with granite on top.
🔧 Commands
/elevator help: Shows all elevator commands.
/elevator create [Combination Number] [Distance #]: Creates a new elevator at a player's feet.
/elevator list: Lists all available combination styles.
/elevatoradmin help: Displays all elevator admin commands.
/elevatoradmin reload: Reloads the plugin configuration files.
/elevatoradmin info: Shows plugin information, such as the current versions.
⚙️ Configuration
If you want more control, you can also configure the entire plugin. You can change or create elevator styles, set a maximum distance, or customize each message.
Here's how you can do it:
Go to your PixelHost Server Panel and stop the server.
Access "FTP File Access" and log in.
Navigate to the "plugins" folder and then to the "Elevator" folder.
Click "Edit" next to any .yml file to edit it.
Once changes are made, click "Save" and then start the server.
🔑 Permissions
elevator.use: Permission for all elevator combinations. All players have this permission by default.
elevator.use.[combination]: Permission to use a specific elevator combination.
elevator.distance.[distance]: Grants a player a unique maximum lift distance.
elevator.bypass.cooldown: Bypasses the set cooldown time for the elevator.
elevator.bypass.distance: Permission to ignore the set maximum distance.
elevator.update: Players with this permission are notified of new updates.
❗ Common Issues:
Plugin commands aren't showing up in-game: This often happens because the plugin didn't load correctly. Ensure you're running a plugin-compatible version. If not, check that the plugin's .jar file is in the plugins folder, as it won't load otherwise.
Plugin doesn't work after changing the configuration file: This usually means there's an issue with the format in the config file. We recommend using a YAML validator to ensure there are no formatting problems, then save and restart once corrected.
Players can't use commands: For a player to use the plugin commands, they'll need permissions through a permissions plugin. You can use the permissions mentioned above to grant and customize player commands.
